About
Emma Powell is a photographer who captures the ambiguous nature of the landscape in her obscure and macro photography. Her intention is to captivate individuals and strengthen their acknowledgment of the subtle and concealed attributes of the landscape and everyday life. She has studied her degree in Photography, at The Carmarthen School of Art and has achieved a Diploma in Foundation Art and Design, at Merthyr Tydfil College, where the foundations of her practice were developed.
During her career as a photographer she has taken part in various exhibitions, these are inclusive of The Swansea Waterfront Museum, The Ironworks Art Exhibition comprising of a group exhibit. A second exhibition in The New Crown Inn, which supports new artists, where several of her photographs were purchased across the period they were shown and finally The Undergraduates Exhibition at the Oriel Q Gallery in Narberth.
Through the years she has been inspired by a variety of photographers and artists including the works of Imogen Cunningham, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Bill Brandt, Richard Avedon, Maurizio Anzeri, Charlie Waite, Adam Burton, David Hockney, Dave Reichert, Steven Friedman, Nigel Forster, Clyfford Still, Mark Rothko, Georgia O'Keeffe and Brendan Stuart Burns. Taking all of the inspiration, translating and developing it in her own work.
